Burnout is almost inevitable in an industry that runs on tight deadlines and high energy. For women, it\u2019s more than just long hours\u2014it\u2019s the weight of\u00a0unconscious bias, societal expectations, and the constant balancing act between career and home. Creating self-boundaries at work and home is important for mental wellbeing, say experts who have been in the sector for a while.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Key Findings from the Report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Workplace Safety and Mental Health: Organisations need to step up, foster real flexibility and create cultures where women don\u2019t just survive but truly thrive.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flexibility as an Equaliser:\u00a0Hybrid work models and flexible policies are critical for women\u2019s career progression. Many organizations are\u00a0reverting to rigid work structures, disproportionately impacting women.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Pay Gap Persists:\u00a0Gender pay disparities remain a pressing issue. Transparent pay audits and salary benchmarking are key solutions.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mentorship &amp; Career Growth:\u00a0Limited mentorship opportunities and exclusion from leadership pipelines hinder women\u2019s professional progress.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bridging the Generational Divide:\u00a0Multigenerational collaboration is key, yet\u00a0conflicting leadership styles and work expectations\u00a0pose challenges.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upskilling is the way to go: Over 75% of respondents highlight the significance of learning new skills. Key areas of interest include training in digital marketing, leadership development, public speaking, crisis communication, and emerging technologies such as AI and data analytics.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tech as a Career Accelerator: Women in communications increasingly leverage AI, automation and data-driven insights, but many face\u00a0tech adoption barriers\u00a0due to generational divides.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report highlights the path forward &#8211; solutions for a more inclusive community where\u00a0flexibility is a key driver of progress, with\u00a0hybrid work models transforming opportunities for women by allowing better work-life balance; reintegration support being critical for women returning to work, helping them transition smoothly;\u00a0and progressive HR policies helping normalise career breaks and remove bias from hiring and promotions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, as AI reshapes the industry, fostering inclusivity across generations is crucial. The report calls for mentorship and reverse-learning models to bridge generational gaps in leadership and communication; digital upskilling to equip women with emerging technological skills; and a diverse workforce to drive innovation, ensuring sustainable growth for the industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ritu Bararia,\u00a0President, WICCI PR &amp; Digital Marketing Council, emphasised the need for sustained action, stating, \u201cThis year\u2019s Women\u2019s Day theme, &#8216;For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.&#8217; serves as a powerful reminder that achieving true gender equality requires deliberate action. Along the same lines, our recent survey, enriched by insights from industry leaders, underscores the imperative to foster safe, inclusive, and equitable workplaces. While progress has been made, there remains a collective responsibility to champion policies that ensure psychological safety, equal opportunities, and continuous upskilling for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aligning with this year\u2019s\u00a0UN\u2019s theme \u2013 \u201cFor ALL Women and Girls: Rights.
