On Purpose Consulting has unveiled ‘The Purpose Project Part II’, commemorating three years of On Purpose in the communications industry. It also marks the completion of the first Purpose Project, a capacity-building initiative to support social change in India. It was initiated in August 2019.
The Purpose Project is an effort by the consultancy to help a not-for-profit build their communications capabilities, pro bono. In the first edition, it helped HAQ Centre For Child Rights build their communications capacity by providing content and design support for their website (currently in construction).
On Purpose chose HAQ Centre for Child Rights owing to the latter’s work in ensuring equal rights for children and giving them a voice. A human rights organization, HAQ Centre For Child Rights focuses on all rights for all children, recognising them as citizens of today and adults of tomorrow to create a society where children’s rights are considered equal, there is planned development and action through knowledge creation, evidence-based advocacy and communication, direct support for children in distress, collaboration and partnership.
Speaking about the experience in working with On Purpose, a spokesperson from HAQ Centre says, “We’ve been working in the development sector for the last 20 years and persevered to build our reputation, and have been wanting to showcase our work to the world. The team was quick to learn the nature of our work and what we wanted from the agency in terms of enhancing our public outreach. On Purpose helped us put our thoughts together and create an impactful website. The collaboration with On Purpose was a definite value addition to HAQ.”
Added Girish Balachandran, Managing Partner, On Purpose, “Our aim is to use the power of communications to change the world, one brief at a time. The Purpose Project was another step in furthering our mission. This year has been hard on all of us, and continuing the Purpose Project is our way of spreading some positivity. We are glad to be able to continue using our expertise in communications and help another non-profit doing great work on the ground build their outreach capabilities.”
All NGO aspirants to The Purpose Project need to nominate themselves or those around them on the On Purpose website: https://www.onpurposeconsulting.in/. Participants have to answer a few questions regarding their current communications outreach and comply with a few basic pre-conditions. Based on their challenges, the winner will receive storytelling coaching from mentors, and mentoring to build their communication capacity.
