Amazon India has appointed Abhishek Mahapatra as Director, Consumer Communications. The e-commerce major has been strengthening its communications team over the years.
Abhishek was until recently based out of Dubai where he was leading Corporate Communications for Nissan Middle East, Africa, India and Oceania, after having led the brand as Vice President, Communications Corporate Affairs and CSR at Nissan India.
He previously led communications at Uber India and had an international stint with Ford Motors in China where he managed communications for it’s Ford Smart Mobility across Asia-Pacific region based out of Shanghai.
He began his career in 2002, working in the erstwhile Hanmer & Partners (present MSL). He later worked at IPAN, Comma Consulting and Edelman Public Relations. He is an alumnus of the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune.
In a career spanning 18 years, Abhishek has been part of numerous award-winning campaigns and managed several launches. Notable among the accolades are being a Top 12 Rising Star – globally in 2019 as per a Provoke Media (then Holmes Report) listing.
In this newly created role, he will report to Minari Shah – Director, Corporate Communications.
He brings to the new job a depth of understanding across strategic storytelling, crisis counsel, content creation and influencer engagement.
